Job description

Role Description

The Quality Control (QC) Technician will be responsible for chemical and physical analysis of incoming seed, intermediates as required, and finished goods on a daily basis.The QC technician will verify that results are within specification, and take corrective action and / or notify their supervisor in case of any deviation.

Essential Job Functions Summary

  • Perform analysis of incoming seed samples
  • Verify finished product samples against production reports to ensure the lab has received samples for all skids produced
  • Create composite samples where required
  • Perform chemical (including moisture, protein, fixed oil, volatile oil) and physical testing (grading) on samples, send samples to outside labs for testing that cannot be performed in-house
  • Activities relating to Canadian Grain Sampling Program
  • Report out of spec results to supervisor
  • Send results of all analysis for product release
  • Perform housekeeping duties as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of Food Safety, GMP, HACCP training
  • Familiarity with use of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Quality Control and Quality Assurance skills
  • Analytical Skills and Laboratory Skills
  • Experience with laboratory equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing processes
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards
  • Relevant certification or diploma in Quality Control or related field
