A DAY IN THE LIFE

In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise for scheduled maintenance, fault analysis, troubleshooting, and potential main component or blade repairs on wind turbines. The job involves working at heights and in confined spaces, often in varying weather conditions. The site near Medicine Hat, Alberta, consists of 98 V136 Mk 3B 3.6 MW turbines. Standard shifts are five days a week, 8-10 hours per day. The role includes participation in an on-call rotation during weekends and off-hours, with potential for overtime. About 15% of your time may involve travel to other sites. Technicians typically work in teams of 2–3 and climb 1–2 turbines daily.

MORE ABOUT YOU

  • You will need a safety-focused mindset, and your positive attitude will contribute to teamwork, motivation, and initiative.
  • You can identify solutions to issues through process of elimination.
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of wind industry experience, a wind certificate, or transferable skills from agricultural, mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical work.
