Scope: Reporting to the Quality Manager position will be responsible to Supervisor and coordinate activities of the Quality Control Lab staff and QC functions while optimizing time and equipment, costs and project implementation. Gather information to prepare daily, weekly and monthly reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Quality Control laboratory.
  • Participate in the establishment of specifications for testing and releasing of products.
  • Participate in lab out of specification and non-conformance investigations.
  • Assist in development of analytical method development.
  • Prepare samples and conduct testing as per standard test procedures.
  • Operates instrumentation and associated software.
  • Plans assigned work efficiently and executes while ensuring target timelines are met.
  • Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample preparation and analysis.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and methodologies when mechanical or procedural difficulties occur.
  • Follow laboratory safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist with validation and verification of new methods as needed.
  • Ensure the proper disposal of all biohazardous and chemical waste.
  • Monitor use and inventory of laboratory supplies to maintain appropriate laboratory supply levels.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of analytical methods.
  • Develop, implement, and revise all Quality Control SOPs.
  • Ensure laboratory cleanliness is maintained.
  • Ensure the integrity and traceability of all generated and reported data.
  • Review and approve all chemistry and microbiology data.
  • Maintain lab equipment in operational use, ensuring calibration is conducted according to established schedules.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Company


Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of a B.Sc. (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology) or a combination of a diploma with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience is an asset.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ laboratory testing experience and familiar with analytical instrumentation is required.
  • Strongly detail-oriented and substantial attention to detail required.
  • Strong and effective communication and leadership skills required.
