Job description

POSTING # 25-04-50Background: The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, Inc. is seeking a skilled and culturally aware individual to take on the leadership role of Asihcikan Community Care Site Team Lead, a new transformative community care initiative. This role will oversee the day-to-day operations of Asihcikan at Notre Dame Avenue while providing strategic direction and support to the two other Community Care Team Leads. The lead will ensure that all programming aligns with Indigenous culture, community well-being, and holistic healing, supporting Winnipeg’s Indigenous community through cultural resurgence, empowerment, and holistic wellness.Asihcikan, a partnership with Harvest Manitoba, will include a community kitchen, cultural workshops, ceremonial activities, and a social supermarket model to serve Indigenous individuals and families. The Community Care Site & Program Lead will be the key liaison between frontline staff, Ma Mawi leadership, and external partners, ensuring program excellence, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement.Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in Human Services, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory or leadership experience in a community-based or Indigenous-centered setting.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultural practices, healing methodologies, and community development models.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in performance management, incorporating cultural values such as respect, responsibility, and integrity.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook/365) and digital project management tools.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
  • Subject to Criminal Record Check, Prior Contact Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
