Job summary

Gexel Telecom International Inc. seeks a Quality Control Supervisor to establish and lead the QC Department across production sites. You will define roles, routines, and indicators, and ensure alignment with the QMS and customer requirements.

You will supervise inspections (incoming, in-process, final, and pre-shipment), drive corrective actions, and collaborate with methods, engineering, and production teams to improve process robustness and reduce rework.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing environment.
• Experience creating or implementing a Quality Control Department (asset).
• Strong bilingual English/French communication.
• Experience with NCRs, corrective actions, and internal audits (asset).
• Experience in multi-site manufacturing environment (asset).

Job description

As a Quality Control Supervisor, your primary mandate will be to establish, structure, and oversee the Quality Control Department for the production sites. In compliance with Excelpro's Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, Quality Control is responsible for inspections, product release, non-conformance documentation, and the operational follow-up of corrective actions.More specifically, you will be responsible for:

• Participating in defining the mission, scope, and responsibilities of Quality Control.
• Structuring the roles of inspectors, quality agents, and future quality resources.
• Establishing the department’s routines, standards, forms, control points, and performance indicators.
• Deploying a common quality control approach across production sites.
• Ensuring alignment with Excelpro's QMS.
• Ensuring consistency with the Quality Management processes of the Organizational Excellence (ExO) Department.
• Clarifying interfaces between quality, production, engineering, methods, warehouse operations, and customer requirements.
• Supervising inspection activities (incoming, in-process, final, and pre-shipment inspections) when applicable.
• Ensuring inspections are carried out according to defined criteria, customer requirements, internal standards, and applicable requirements.
• Ensuring proper documentation of inspection results, non-conformances, releases, and follow-up activities.
• Defining and maintaining checklists, inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and quality records.
• Ensuring inspection consistency across sites and teams.
• Overseeing the management of internal, supplier, or customer non-conformances related to manufacturing operations.
• Ensuring non-conformances are documented, prioritized, analyzed, and addressed according to their criticality.
• Participating in root cause analyses with production, methods, and engineering teams.
• Following up on corrective and preventive actions through to closure.
• Identifying recurring trends and proposing preventive actions.
• Contributing to the reduction of rework, touch-ups, recurring errors, and costs associated with poor quality.
• Participating in continuous improvement projects related to quality, inspection methods, and process robustness.
• Supporting methods and production teams in defining control points integrated into manufacturing processes.
• Collaborating with the methods team to improve inspectability and the clarity of deliverables.
• Collaborating with the Quality Management team of the Organizational Excellence (ExO) Department during internal audits or quality reviews.
• Supervising, supporting, and developing inspectors, quality agents, and quality engineers.
• Prioritizing inspection activities according to site needs, urgencies, and workload.
• Training and coaching the team on standards, acceptance criteria, documentation, and quality practices.
• Working closely with methods, engineering/eHouse, production, and planning team leaders.
• Participating in NCR review meetings, post-mortems, and improvement projects.
• Performing all other related duties.

REQUIREMENTS

• College diploma, quality-related training, or a bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation Engineering, or another relevant field.
• Lean training, continuous improvement training, Green Belt certification, or equivalent experience (asset).
• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in quality control, inspection, manufacturing, technical production, or a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in team supervision or coordination.
• Experience creating or implementing a Quality Control Department (asset).
• Experience in control panel manufacturing, electrical assembly, industrial integration, or modular projects (asset).
• Experience with NCRs, corrective actions, internal audits, inspection plans, or quality systems (asset).
• Experience with certification and quality audits (asset).
• Experience in a multi-site environment (asset).
• Strong proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written, to communicate with partners outside Quebec.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Comfortable using ERP/MRP systems, quality forms, databases, and performance indicators.
• Knowledge of internal auditing principles (ISO 19011) and measuring and calibration equipment management (ISO 10012) (asset).
• Ability to travel occasionally to ensure consistency and development of inter-site practices.
• Practical knowledge of CSA C22.2 No. 286, UL 508A, and UL 698A requirements applicable to panel inspection and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Lean tools, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Pareto, 8D, or other problem-solving methodologies (asset).
• Knowledge of CSA N299 requirements applicable to suppliers in the nuclear industry (asset).
• Knowledge of compliance requirements applicable to electrical control panels intended for the European market (CE) (asset).
