Reporting to the Vice President – Innovation & Technology, the Quality Control & Continuous Improvement Manager (QCCIM) is responsible for ensuring that our products and processes meet Regulatory, Licensor, Customer, and Argus internal requirements while driving sustainable improvements across Argus. This hybrid role blends traditional quality assurance practices with Lean methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize product quality. Additionally, the Quality Control & Continuous Improvement Manager provides leadership, direction, andexpertise in quality assurance and quality control.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to :
Quality :
- Lead the Argus Quality department, taking responsibility for all personnel and activity within the Quality Control Department and, in collaboration with the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, the Quality Assurance Department.
- Plan and implement a strategic direction for the Quality department that follows the corporation’s vision, goals, and strategies.
- Determine training needs for QA Supervisors and, in consultation with QA Supervisors, QA Inspectors.
- Collaborate with Plant Supervisors to ensure their understanding of changes required in manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with the QA Manager to oversee, enhance, and implement all on-floor quality management system requirements.
- Collaborate with the QA Manager to establish procedures for QC Inspectors, Machinists, and CNC Operators to follow on the floor.
- Collaborate with the QA Manager to develop, review, and document standard operating procedures for manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with the Licensor Quality Manager (LQR) to establish procedures for QA Inspectors, Machinists, and CNC Operators to follow on the floor.
- Review of manufacturing processes and recommend changes to the necessary parties.
- Write Manufacturing Test Plans as required.
- Control of the API Monogram.
- Champion for Argus’ Vision as related to Continuous Improvement.
- Develop and implement training strategies for the organization on the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Process Improvement.
- Collaborate with the Senior Management Team (SMT) to standardize processes, enhance workflows, and minimize variability while maintaining quality, safety, and financial stability.
- Provide mentorship and organize Argus’ team of Lean Yellow Belts to lead and support continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean tools, including Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Kaizen, FMEA, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Embrace, encourage, and enhance employee knowledge of Lean methodologies.
- Provide support and mentorship in developing and executing training on lean principles and their impact on Argus.
- Audit the performance of Continuous Improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
Management :
- Establish budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with overall corporate goals.
- In collaboration with the VP of Innovation & Technology, the Quality Department, and Human Resources, attract, recruit, retain, reward, and develop members of the Quality Department.
- Collaborate with the Licensor Quality Manager and Plant / Quality Supervisors to determine the Quality and Licensor training requirements for all Argus employees, reviewing and approving as necessary.
- Guide the Quality and CI departments in leadership and strategic alignment while promoting professional development.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and inclusive culture that is adaptable to evolving employee demographics.
- Manage direct reports; lead and promote growth within the department, achieving success through effective training, goal setting, performance management, and accountability to role expectations and goals.
- Complete annual performance evaluations of all direct reports, providing feedback at a minimum on areas relating to operations, continuous improvement, quality, and safety.
- Advocate and mentor on all aspects of Risk Management within the department, ensuring risks are understood through strong leadership, effective monitoring, and regular training of direct reports.
- Responsible for promoting safety throughout Argus, in line with legislation.
Senior Management Team (SMT) :
- As an active member of the SMT, you will collaborate with the team to review, understand, and refine our business processes, fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility that enhances corporate performance.
- In collaboration with the Executive Team, develop short-term initiatives critical to enhancing our systems, reducing waste, and ensuring consistent and accurate execution.
- In collaboration with the Executive Team, execute established long-term strategic initiatives that support the organization's strategic objectives.
- Lead and work directly with the Leadership Team (LT) and each department tp monitor performance and address day-to-day issues that impact our ability to meet customer needs, including quality and delivery KPIs.
- Meet with the LT monthly to discuss, at minimum, the past month's corporate performance regarding revenue, margin, on-time delivery, and non-conformance rates. Establish and assign specific tasks to address concerns drawn from the review.
- Collaborate to set priorities and ensure that we manage resources appropriately, execute plans within established and agreed-upon timelines.
- Consistently monitor, measure, evaluate, document, and report on the progress of initiatives throughout the organization.
- Be a leader, taking responsibility for organizational situations that impact our ability to meet customer needs and / or regulatory requirements. Ensure the issues are reviewed, understood for their root cause, and addressed promptly to ensure compliance.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
- 15+ years’ experience in a QA / QC position in a machine shop / manufacturing environment or similar.
- 10+ years’ experience in supervisory / managerial role; responsible for the direct supervision of personnel.
- Technical training or post-secondary education in Engineering or Quality Management is preferred. Formal training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or an equivalent would be considered an asset.
- ISO Auditor certification is considered an asset.
- General knowledge of products and services in relation to the oil and gas industry.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Office environment; extended sitting & computer use.
- Working while wearing personal protective equipment as required.
