Job summary

DECIEM | THE ABNORMAL BEAUTY COMPANY is seeking a Quality Control Chemist II for our Eastside Manufacturing Facility in Etobicoke. You will test, review, and release raw materials, packaging, and finished products to ensure quality and compliance.

The role requires 2–4 years in QC labs or R&D in cosmetics/pharma, with wet chemistry skills and knowledge of cGMP/GLP. On-site work, collaboration with production and R&D, and data integrity are key aspects.

Qualifications

  • 2 - 4 years of experience in a Quality Control Lab, Analytical Lab, or in an R&D setting in the Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic, or Cannabis industries is an asset.
  • Knowledge in a range of wet chemistry techniques and basic laboratory instrumentation (e.g., chemical and physical identification tests, limit tests, conductivity, density, pH, specific gravity, viscosity, etc.)
  • Strong communication (written & verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Previous experience with, or good understanding of good laboratory practices and good documentation practices
  • Experience with, or good comprehension of the regulatory guidelines (cGMP, GLP) and compendia (USP/NF, ICH, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine testing and review of raw materials, finished products, stability, and cleaning validation using analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV Spectroscopy, wet chemistry, TOC).
  • Perform release of raw materials and finished products through the company ERP (Microsoft D365).
  • Participate in development of protocols and Bulk hold study reports.
  • Participate in analytical method development, validation, cleaning validation, and method transfers of new and existing product development, stability sample review, and trending on bulk and finished product.
  • Develop new specifications for bulk products.
  • Perform calibrations and routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation as needed.
  • Ensure that equipment is in good working order and take action when required per procedures and SOPs.
  • Oversee and support retain sample retention management, including sample tracking and filing internally and externally.
  • Work with production, compounding staff, R&D, Inventory Control, Engineering, and Production planning to ensure product is manufactured to standards.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in testing and data handling.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We’re hiring a Quality Control Chemist II to help test, review, and release raw materials, packaging, bulk products and finished products.

This is an on-site role based out of our Eastside Manufacturing Facility in Etobicoke.

PAY RANGE

The anticipated base salary for this position is $58,000 to $62,000.

Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE
