Raise is seeking a Senior Functional Analyst with deep electric utility experience to drive the ESS program. You will translate business needs into functional requirements, support QA and UAT, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure solution readiness.

In this role you will facilitate stakeholder workshops, manage backlogs, and contribute to the product team for ongoing operations of Enspire applications across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of QA, business analysis or related experience.
  • Experience on product teams using user stories, backlog and sprints.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Excel and data visualization tools.
  • Experience with cloud web-based applications.
  • Excellent communication to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead stakeholder workshops to gather and validate business requirements.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements and liaise with tech/vendor teams.
  • Manage epics, user stories, tasks and backlog; support SCRUM and project delivery.
  • Develop end-to-end process diagrams and define as-is/to-be states for ESS.
  • Support QA activities: test plans, SIT/UAT, issue triage and root-cause analysis.

Job description

Our client is undergoing a transformative restructuring of electricity market through the Restructured program - a multi-year, enterprise-wide initiative focused on implementing new applications and integrating them with other mission-critical systems and processes across the organization.

The applications will enable the client’s to operate the electricity market with greater efficiently and reliably – ensuring power gets to where it needs to be at the right time and cost. Applications include a market settlement system, commercial model management, offer control, outage submission, price validation and market power mitigation.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Energy Settlement System, we are seeking a Senior Functional Analyst with a strong background in the electric utility sector and deep experience in complex system implementations to join our dynamic team.

This role will be a key position in the implementation of the applications and will transition to a role on the product team for ongoing operations for the lifecycle of the Enspire applications, ensuring the solution meets the evolving needs of the organization while delivering value across the market.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Work with cross-functional teams; supporting and contributing to Quality Assurance, Technical Teams, Change Management etc.
  • Develop test plans and test cases. Execute test cases. Work with stakeholders to develop test cases and oversee UAT.
  • Support SIT/UAT testing, issue triage and root cause analysis during design / implementation
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation across test cases, test results, maintaining traceability and change
  • Analyze and report on data to identify metrics, KPIs and business insights across QA functions
  • Lead stakeholder workshops to gather, document and validate business requirements and define ESS functionality scope
  • Translate business need into clear and actionable functional requirements; acting as the functional liaison between business and technical team members; as well as vendor
  • Manage epics, user stories, tasks and backlog as required, supporting SCRUM and Project Management with delivery
  • Establish end-to-end process diagrams; outlining as-is and defining to-be to support the design and delivery of the ESS solution
  • Identification of gaps, or opportunities for enhancements or efficiencies across product delivery
  • Support and validate vendor design documents, ensuring consistency and completeness across business requirements
  • Support cross-functional organizational activities; training, communications
  • Support the delivery of operational readiness and cutover planning
  • Continue to support the ongoing design and development of the ESS product; ensuring the solution aligns with the evolving needs of the business and market.
Education and Experience required for this role:
  • A Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in QA, business analysis or a related role
  • Experience on a product team that uses user stories, backlog management and sprints
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand system architecture, APIs, data, data integrations etc.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, such as SQL, Excel, and data visualization software
  • Experience with cloud web-based applications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Adaptability and resilience to respond to evolving priorities and timelines
  • Experience in both agile and waterfall delivery methodologies; with strong aptitude in sprints and ceremonies (i.e. standup, sprint planning, retrospectives)
  • Establishing strong business and technical relationships to facilitate trust and collaboration across team members and partners
  • Experience across large scale project implementation; in-house legacy applications, introduction of new technology etc.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps

  • Experience in the electrical utility industry is an asset
  • Proven track record of leading successful projects from inception to implementation, delivering measurable business value.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies to ensure stakeholder buy-in
  • Experience managing multiple cross-functional projects to implement new and complex business lines
  • Experience in leading analysis and design across end-to-end system implementations
  • Experience working on a Product Team as a functional analyst post implementation
  • Experience taking the lead to gather requirements, facilitate delivery, and mentor other team members on the Product Team for the lifecycle of the system
