Job summary

Rubicon Organics is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to support our Delta facility and QA team. The role focuses on ensuring product quality, safety, and traceability of cannabis batches, with responsibilities spanning record review, batch documentation, and QC activities.

Two vacancies exist for this maternity leave contract, with potential limited hybrid work after onboarding. The candidate should be flexible to varied shifts and commit to maintaining high quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail demonstrated through document or data review.
  • Experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments is an asset.
  • 1–2 years in a quality role in cannabis, food, pharma, or nutraceuticals is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily records by operation staff and ensure timely, organized corrections.
  • Compile batch records and verify all processes and tests meet specifications.
  • Maintain documentation in line with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform quality control checks, product checks, packaging checks, and sanitation verification.
  • Conduct facility inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and internal procedures.
  • Support training and cross-training of production staff.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and investigations into complaints or out-of-spec results.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic aboutlearning anddeveloping their career in Cannabis Quality Assurance while supporting a diverse and dynamic company.We currently have two vacancies for this role. Both positions are based out of our facility in Delta and will report to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Purpose of the Quality Technician role:
  • Supportthe maintenance and improvement of ourQuality Management System.
  • Ensure the quality, safety, and complete traceability of batches of cannabis and cannabis products.
  • Provide ground-level analysis of potential risks to product quality and safety andprovide recommendations to reduce oreliminaterisk.
  • Defend product quality and safety at every step of the production process to ensure we deliver on our quality goals.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and verifydaily records filled by operation staff, ensuring all corrections are made ina timelyand organized manner.
  • Compile batch records, confirming all required processes, tests, and assessments are completed within specification.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with applicable guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Perform Quality Control activities as needed, including product checks, packaging checks, and sanitation verification.
  • Conduct facility inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
  • Evaluate materials and equipment for suitability prior to purchase.
  • Supportreceiving ofraw materials, supplies, equipment, and packaging components.
  • Support training and re-training of production staff.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in investigations related to consumer complaints, deviations, and out-of-specification results.
  • Prepare andmaintaindocumentation for regulatory audits.
  • Create and update controlled documents.
  • Support inventory counts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Requirements:
  • The role is a maternity leave coverage 10 month contract, based in Delta, with options for limited hybrid work after onboarding. However, the candidate must have flexibility tooccasionallywork variable shifts as early as 7:00 am and as late as 12:00 am when covering for other Quality personnel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail through document or data review.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment, while either on your feet or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability to take upadditionalduties and cross train.
  • Competence using Microsoft Office applications and ability to quickly learn new software.
  • Ability to complete work both independently and as part of a team.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a quality position within the cannabis, food, pharmaceutical, natural health products, or nutraceutical industries is considered strong asset, but combinations of other experience and education will be considered.
  • A Bachelor of Science, a certificate in Quality Assurance/Quality Control, or other equivalent education is considered an asset.
  • Experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset: document review, data review, Quality Management Systems (QMS), quality inspections, quality control, technical writing, analytical testing, Cannabis Act & Regulations, cannabis quality assessment, complaint management, corrective and preventative action, HACCP, risk assessment.
