The Quality Lab Technician will provide laboratory support to the Pet Food operations by interpreting analytical results, inspecting, and analyzing raw materials and in-process samples, and preparing daily analytical reports. Flexibility to work off shifts and weekends is required.

Job Description

Ensure all products produced meet or exceed company standards and comply with Provincial and Federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety policies by production staff and contractors, prioritizing safety over profit and production.
• Collect, prepare, and ship samples for environmental monitoring and other testing as required.
• Sample, analyze, and record results during various stages including cooking, baking, ingredient preparation, processing, and packing.
• Record analysis results in the system.
• Inspect trailers and containers prior to loading finished products; sample and seal trailers/containers after loading; measure and record temperatures before shipping.
• Issue and fill out customer paperwork such as Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
• Verify Critical Control Points (CCPs).
• Coordinate with Operations supervisors and managers.
• Perform lab calibration, validation, and basic preventive maintenance.
• Receive and stock lab supplies.
• Maintain quality and food/feed safety systems such as QMS, HACCP, GMP, GFSI, and other CPFI systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Technical degree in Science and Chemistry required.
• Minimum 2 years laboratory experience in a related industry, or equivalent education.
• Experience with chemical handling.
• Knowledge of handling chemicals, NIRS, and basic mathematics.
• Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation.
• Proficiency in Windows-based computer applications.
• Ability to lift up to 20 kg and operate lab equipment.
