Job summary

Velan Inc. is seeking a CAPA Quality Engineer to lead corrective and preventive action projects across engineering, production, procurement and QC teams.

You will investigate product failures, machining deviations and material defects to ensure our valves meet strict safety and performance standards. Ideal candidates have 3–5+ years in heavy manufacturing quality engineering, with strong NDT, GD&T and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Quality Management or related discipline.
• 3–5+ years of quality engineering experience in heavy manufacturing.
• Experience with valves, pumps, pressure vessels or rotating equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of NDT, GD&T and manufacturing practices.
• Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or ASQ CQE is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for valve assembly failures and related non-conformances.
• Develop action plans with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Procurement.
• Create testing protocols to verify permanent defect elimination.
• Ensure CAPA records align with ASME and ISO 9001 standards.
• Collaborate with supplier quality, procurement and suppliers on CAPA.

Reporting to the Manager, CAPA, the function is responsible to lead Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) projects to solve internal or supplier related issues. You will lead cross-functional engineering, production, procurement and QC teams to investigate product failures, machining deviations, and material defects. Your role ensures our products meet strict safety and industry performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Defect Investigation : Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for valve assembly failures, pressure test leaks, casting porosities, and machining non-conformances using 5 Whys, Fishbone, and FMEA.
• Action Plan Development : Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Procurement to design corrective actions for welding, machining, assembly, and performance testing
• Effectiveness Verification : Develop and execute testing protocols to verify that process changes permanently eliminate design or manufacturing defects.
• Standards & Compliance : Ensure CAPA records align with industrial valve standards including ASME (Section III, B16.34), and ISO 9001.
• Supplier Quality CAPA : Lead CAPA activities with supplier quality team members, procurement and suppliers representatives to improve supplier’s performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline.
• 3-5+ years of quality engineering experience in heavy manufacturing, ideally involving valves, pumps, pressure vessels, or rotating equipment.
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT), geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing practices
• Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is highly desirable.
• Bilingual: French and English (Oral and written)
• Ability to work under pressure and time management skills
