Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories seeks a Quality Assurance Representative to provide expert guidance, oversight and assurance that products, services and programs meet the highest standards of quality, safety and regulatory compliance. Qualifications

• Bachelor's (Honours) in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or equivalent from a recognized university.
• 5 years of full-time laboratory experience with QA and QC responsibilities.
• Experience in radiochemistry, analytical laboratory operations, medical isotope manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, pre-clinical studies, or other regulated scientific environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advising on quality codes, standards and quality program requirements for projects and facility operation.
• Supporting regulatory compliance including CNSC and TSSA.
• Participating in or performing surveillance and audits.
• Planning, executing and reporting surveillance activities.
• Developing, reviewing and improving procedures, quality plans, training materials, or program documentation.

• Reviewing study plans, amendments, deviations, and validation documentation for GLP compliance.
• Identifying quality issues, deficiencies, observations and nonconformances.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

If you do, our Chalk River location is looking for a Quality Assurance Representative to serve as a trusted quality expert, providing guidance, oversight, and assurance that critical products, services, and programs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. What you will be doing!

• Advising on quality codes, standards and quality program requirements as applied to projects and facility operation.
• Supporting compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including CNSC (Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission) and TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority)
• Participating in or Performing Surveillance and Audits.
• Planning, executing and reporting surveillance activities.
• Developing, reviewing and improving procedures, quality plans, training materials, or program documentation.
• Maintaining Quality qualifications and regulatory knowledge.
• Reviewing and verifying study plans, amendments, deviations, study reports, procedures and validation documentation to ensure compliance with the Principles of GLP(Good Laboratory Practice).
• Identifying and documenting quality issues, deficiencies, observations and nonconformances.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

• Education
  • At a minimum, a Bachelor's (Honours) in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or equivalent from a university of recognized standing; or membership in an engineering or scientific organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
• Experience
  • Significant related engineering and/or science‑based work experience.
  • Experience in a field of specialization.
  • Direct experience in radiochemistry, analytical laboratory operations, medical isotope manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, pre‑clinical studies, or other regulated scientific environments is preferred.
  • Experience working within a GLP governed environment is considered a strong asset.
  • 5 years of full‑time experience in a laboratory environment with responsibility for Quality Assurance and Quality Control implementation.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent working knowledge of management systems and support processes.
  • Knowledge of compliance assurance, quality assurance, safety analysis, and nuclear programs, such as security, environmental protection, and radiological protection.
  • Strong theoretical and technical knowledge of chromatographic sciences and spectroscopic technologies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality work, adherence to standards and codes, policies and procedures.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, as well as good presentation skills.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

• Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty‑seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
• This position is part of the CRPEG Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the CRPEG Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
• Occasional travel may be required to external supplier sites for project verification activities.

Location: Fully Onsite

This role is a fully onsite role that requires the employee to primarily work at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory site, with only occasional opportunities to work remotely, if desired by the employee. Located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley, our Chalk River site offers a beautiful natural setting with forests, lakes, and wildlife, right at your doorstep.
