NWI Precision specializes in high-precision machining of helicopter masts, turbine shafts, engine thrust links, and nuclear pressure vessel components used in the aerospace and nuclear industries worldwide. NWI Precision’s 120,000 sq. ft. facility is located at 9 Fenmar Drive in Toronto. Our dedicated team prides themselves on delivering the highest quality products, to specifications and on time. NWI Precision is currently seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager.

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements across programs, functions, and departments while leading and mentoring a team of Quality Engineers. This role establishes performance standards, procedures, and audit controls to meet business requirements, supports new product introductions (NPI), aligns milestones with product deliveries, and drives the overall quality program. Reporting to the Director of Quality at NWI Precision.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manage and administer the AS9100 and ISO 9001-compliant Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with the Quality Manual, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Lead, plan, and conduct internal QMS audits, supplier audits, and third-party audits, including shop floor audits, to ensure compliance with AS9100 standards.
  • Establish and implement QMS policies, procedures, and audit protocols to maintain effective quality systems.
  • Mentor, train, and educate Quality Engineers and staff on QMS requirements, fostering compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, managing audit schedules, logistics, and corrective action closures during site certification and recertification audits.
  • Compile information for and lead Management Review Meetings, providing assessments of QMS health and recommendations for improvement.
  • Mentor and supervise Quality Engineers, supporting their development and engagement across customer programs.
  • Provide functional leadership, collaborating with Inspection, Engineering, Operations, and Program Managers to integrate quality controls.
  • Recommend workload allocation, address business needs, and promote employee development.
  • Represent the Quality team in new product introductions (NPI), customer product reviews, cross-functional root cause corrective actions (RCCAs), and management meetings.
  • Manage First Article Inspection Reporting (FAIR) and Designated Supplier Quality Representative (DSQR) processes, ensuring part conformity and change control.
  • Facilitate non-conformance report (NCR) reviews, Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions, and 8D corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Drive RCCA processes for customer and internal issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare and implement quality plans for production processes using Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) frameworks.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Cost of Quality, Yields, and RCCA closure, driving improvement plans.
  • Support qualification and auditing of vendors, improving quality processes and assisting with corrective action requests (CARs).
  • Manage Receiving Inspection Activities to ensure part conformity.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational quality objectives.

EDUCATION :

  • University degree or certificate in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Process, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • ASQ certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer - CQE, Certified Quality Manager - CQM, or Certified Quality Auditor - CQA) preferred.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) or Lean methodologies strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE :

  • 10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment at a management level, with 5-8 years in a highly regulated quality environment (aerospace or nuclear preferred).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Working experience in a related engineering field.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO / TS 16949, CSA N299, FAI, 8D problem-solving, Process Capability, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and nuclear methodologies.
  • Familiarity with precision machining, non-destructive testing (NDT), and related inspection methods.
  • Eligible for registration in the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident, able to work in Canada.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to the US or internationally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
