Job summary

RailWorks is seeking a QA/QC Manager to lead quality functions on our project, developing and maintaining the QMS and guiding field teams through quality procedures.

You will review contracts, monitor contractor QA/QC programs, and report quality status to management, ensuring compliance and effective corrective actions across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or a combined total of not less than four years of college education, training, and/or technical experience evidencing understanding of quality management in construction.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in a quality management position.
  • Railroad/transit/construction work experience preferred with related certifications and training.
  • Quality Management Systems Certification preferred.
  • Ability to read/reference electrical construction specifications and plans.
  • Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills; ability to communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Quality Management Systems (QMS) for project, including quality management plans and procedures.
  • Maintain and ensure effective implementation of the QMS.
  • Guide the project through effective implementation of quality management plans and procedures.
  • Review contracts for QA/QC requirements.
  • Review other quality plans and implement quality procedures.
  • Identify quality trends and issues to management.
  • Report status of quality issues to management for progress reports.
  • Monitor contractor QA/QC programs.
  • Coordinate resolution of quality issues.
  • Conduct quality audits internally and with suppliers/subcontractors; ensure recommendations are implemented.
  • Document inspection results and input data into quality database.
  • Approve incoming materials by specifications; conduct tests; reject unacceptable materials.
  • Approve in-process production; conduct tests; communicate adjustments to production supervisor.
  • Approve finished products; conduct tests; return products for rework.
  • Interface with Client(s) Quality personnel to resolve issues.
  • Represent LKCNT on quality issues at meetings.
  • Provide training of personnel to ensure awareness of quality procedures.

Position Summary

The QA/QC Manager serves as the primary contact for all quality related items and issues associated with the project and plans, performs directs and supervises all quality functions.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop Quality Management Systems (QMS) for project, including quality management plans(s) and procedures

  • Maintain and ensure effective implementation of the QMS

  • Guide the project through effective implementation of quality management plan(s) and procedures

  • Review contracts for appropriate QA/QC program requirements

  • Review other quality related plans and implement quality procedures

  • Identify quality trends and issues to management

  • Report status of quality issues to management for routine progress and project status reports

  • Monitor contractor quality assurance and quality control programs

  • Coordinate resolution of quality issues

  • Conduct quality audits internally, on suppliers and specialist subcontractors, and ensure that audit recommendations are implemented

  • Document inspection results by completion of reports and logs; summarize re-work and waste; input data into quality database

  • Approve incoming materials by confirmation of specifications; conduct visual and measurement tests; reject and return unacceptable materials

  • Approve in-process production by confirmation of specifications; conducts visual and measurement tests; communicate required adjustments to production supervisor

  • Approve finished products by confirmation of specifications; conduct visual and measurement tests; return products for rework; confirm rework

  • Interface with Client(s) Quality management personnel to resolve quality issues

  • Represent LKCNT on quality issues at meetings

  • Provide training of personnel to ensure awareness of quality procedures and specific responsibilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or a combined total of not less than four years of college level education, training, and/or technical experience of such nature and extent that, taken in conjunction with any private study, evidences a good understanding of quality management requirements and practices, and their application and us on construction projects

  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in a quality management position

  • Railroad/transit/construction work experience preferred with related certifications and training

  • Quality Management Systems Certification preferred

  • Ability to read/reference electrical construction specifications and plans

  • Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills and ability to communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing

  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Strong team orientation, ability to build collaborative relationships with all project personnel

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines

  • Works in an office environment

  • Frequently sits for long periods of time

  • Frequently speaks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard

  • May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, or bending
