Hitachi Rail Limited is offering a 12-month Quality Assurance Intern internship in Toronto, hybrid, starting January 2027. 40 hours/week with a paid internship and paid vacation.

You will assist QA in software/hardware QA, contribute to AI-driven quality improvements, and collaborate with the AI committee while gaining exposure to project/product lifecycles. The role requires 2 years of undergrad in Engineering or related field, English fluency, and hands-on skills in Excel, Power BI, Python,

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Completed at least 2 years of undergraduate coursework.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Able to work full-time hours (40h/week) for the 12-month term.
• Desire, ability to learn quickly and contribute.
• Ability to work independently and seek help when needed.
• Hands-on experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Power Automate, Python, JavaScript/SQL and Cloud platforms (Azure, Copilot).

Responsibilities

• Assist North America Quality department with software and hardware QA tasks.
• Implement AI use case to reduce quality activity costs and automate metrics collection.
• Participate as an active member of the AI committee.
• Support Quality Assurance Manager with KPI metrics and monthly reports.
• Update scripts or tools used by the QA team.
• Manage customer surveys and collect feedback.
• Coordinate milestones to send customer surveys and support other departments as needed.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be introduced to the exciting world of urban transit at Hitachi Rail. You will be exposed to and be able to contribute to process/practices improvements and to vastly improve your understanding of project/product lifecycle and process associated with it.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Assist North America Quality department on various tasks related to software and hardware quality assurance
• Implement AI use case to reduce cost conducting quality activities e.g. Automate collection of metrics, create AI use cases to reduce effort.
• Participate as Active member of the AI committee to understand and contribute with AI ideas
• Assist Quality Assurance Manager in follow up on various tasks:
• Support the metrics collection and update KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for the Quality Organization
• Support Project Quality Managers (PQMs) with metrics included in Monthly Quality Report
• Update scripts or tools used by Quality Assurance team
• Manage the Customer Surveys to collect feedback from the customers
• Accountable to monitor milestones to send the customer surveys Assist other departments on as needed basis

Required Skills And Experience

• The successful candidate must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related field at an accredited university, such as Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Completed at least 2 years of undergraduate course
• Fluent in English both in written and oral communication skills
• Able to work full time hours (40 hours) with the start date and the agreed work term
• Desire and ability to learn quickly and to contribute
• Ability to work independently (find solutions and seek help when needed)
• Hands‑on experience with Excel and PowerPoint, Power BI and Microsoft Power Automate, Phyton, JavaScripts/SQL and Cloud Platform like Microsoft Azures, Copilot.
