Job summary

MDA Space is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer - electronics for its Satellite systems team in Montréal. You will develop, implement and improve QA processes to meet customer requirements, ensuring adherence to aerospace standards and effective collaboration across engineering functions.

The role involves reviewing designs, change notices, and inspection criteria, leading audits, and driving continuous improvement with a focus on ASME Y14.5 and AS 9100.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with an interest in manufacturing of complex machined parts, electromechanical assemblies or PCB boards.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Good communication in English and French.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5, AS 9100 aerospace work standards is required.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and engineering change notices to influence product design.
• Review and approve work instructions, processes and inspection points and optimize the control plan.
• Coordinate problem resolution and corrective actions with purchasing, production, design and other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct internal and supplier audits and ensure effective corrective actions.
• Analyze data and performance indicators and lead continuous improvement projects.

We’re on the hunt for a Quality Assurance Engineer - electronics on our Satellite systems team at our Montreal office.

Role

The position consists of developing, implementing, maintaining and improving quality assurance processes to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities/Tasks

• Participate in product design by reviewing drawings and engineering change notices;
• Ensure compliance with specifications by reviewing and approving work instructions, processes and inspection points on production orders. Provide interpretations of acceptance criteria and optimize the control plan;
• Coordinate problem resolution and corrective action upon detection of non-conformances with purchasing, production, design and other engineering disciplines;
• Conduct process and product compliance audits both internally and at suppliers. Ensure effective corrective actions;
• Analyze data and performance indicators, identify improvement potentials and lead continuous improvement projects.

Minimal Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in engineering with an interest in the manufacturing of complex machined parts, electromechanical assemblies or PCB printed circuit boards;Ability to exercise leadership in one's discipline;
• Minimum 5 years of experience
• Good communicator in both English and French;
• Have a spirit of collaboration and teamwork;
• Knowledge of dimensioning and geometric tolerancing (ASME Y14.5), AS 9100 quality standards and aerospace work standards is also a requirement of the position;
• Computer skills (word processing and electronic calculation applications) are also required.

Desirable Qualifications

• Auditor training;
• Training in quality engineering and/or continuous improvement (APQP, CQE, Six sigma, etc.).

Comments/Special Considerations

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
