Job summary

Ultra Maritime in Canada is seeking a QA Lead to oversee quality assurance across multiple naval programs. You will coordinate MRB/NCM processes, ensure metrics, and support audits while guiding teams on the QMS and design reviews.

The role requires careful attention to detail and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The position involves hands-on inspections, signatory duties, and training to strengthen product assurance throughout production and testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years quality experience in manufacturing
  • Must obtain NATO security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all Quality Assurance activities related to your assigned Project/s
  • Responsible for timely delivery of MRB and Non-Conformance Review Panels
  • Ensure project metrics are provided and maintained
  • Support third party and internal Quality Audits
  • Signatory for Quality Assurance within Design Reviews when delegated
  • Provide guidance on Ultra’s QMS usage
  • Sign CofC for related portfolio projects when delegated
  • Provide product assurance training
  • Conduct in-process inspections to verify component conformance

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all Quality Assurance activities related to your assigned Project/s
  • Responsible for the effective and timely delivery of Material Review Boards and Non-Conformance (Root Cause Corrective Actions) Review Panels
  • Ensure all relevant Project metrics are provided and maintained
  • Support with third party and internal Quality Audits
  • Where delegated, being the signatory for Quality Assurance within Design Reviews
  • Support portfolio specific customer visits and source inspections, including any assessments identified by the customer
  • Provide guidance to your specific project teams on the usage of Ultra’s QMS
  • When delegated, being the CofC release signatory for related portfolio project / programs
  • Provide product assurance awareness training
  • Conduct In-Process Inspections of material fabricated at Ultra, including the disassembly of finished product to ensure individual components conform to specifications.
  • Proactively address quality issues and concerns within a cross functional team relating to your projects
  • Completes the most complex audits and detailed inspections to compile statistical analysis of identified issues (as assigned).
Nationality Requirements

Nationality Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Required Attributes
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 plus years quality experience in a manufacturing environment
  • The successful candidate must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government NATO security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects
Desired Skills
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of 8D an advantage
  • Working Knowledge of IFS ERP an advantage
  • Internal Auditor qualification or experience auditing. (Lead Auditor preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and expertise to develop and execute objectives
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001:2015
  • Knowledge of AQAP / Def Standards an advantage
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 / 620 an advantage
  • Member of a relevant recognized chartered body(ASQ, P.Eng)
  • Logical and methodical approach to problem solving
  • An ability to deliver under pressure with an appetite for measured success
  • Collaborative working with people with a diverse range of backgrounds
  • A positive, proactive attitude with a high level of self-motivation to deliver excellence
