THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

This position reports directly to the Manager, IT Quality Assurance. The Quality Assurance Automation Tester is responsible for automated and manual testing activities for large and complex software applications. The ideal candidate is skilled in different testing methodologies, can interpret testing scope into tangible test scripts, and has problem-solving skills to remove obstacles that prevent testing progress. Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills are essential. Knowledge of procedures and methodologies in Quality Assurance and Test Automation is required. The QA Automation Tester ensures automated testing supports the validation of software applications according to test cases.

• Create automated test scripts based on test cases, pre-conditions, and data setup requirements.
• Update and maintain object libraries and automation framework components.
• Maintain automated test scripts for various applications.
• Debug and deliver fully functional automated test scripts.
• Mentor and support QA testers in executing automated test scripts.
• Create test cases based on detailed requirements documentation for all testing methods.
• Provide input in the creation of test plans based on detailed requirements documentation.
• Execute test cases using manual and automated testing tools.
• Create and maintain test scripts for data setup and manipulation.
• Document testing defects.
• Participate in defect triage and root cause analysis.
• Attend project meetings and ensure testing processes are followed.
• Ensure testing documentation is accurate and complete.
• Provide time estimates for testing tasks.
• Track and report testing metrics.
• Participate in requirement review sessions and provide feedback.
• Contribute to automation test strategy and QA practices improvement.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience testing various software applications using multiple methodologies.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in creating, modifying, and updating automated test scripts or successful completion of approved automation tool courses.
• Advanced knowledge of automation tools such as UFT, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent.
• Experience with scripting languages like VBScript, C#, SQL, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript.
• Knowledge of automated testing configuration, build, and release management.
• Experience in STLC and defect lifecycle management.
• Basic SQL query development skills.
• Knowledge of SDLC, Azure DevOps, GitHub or similar tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

TRAINING PERIOD

The training period is 60 days. Salary is in accordance with the Collective Agreement. This position is posted under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
