Qualifications

Why this role is important?

The role is a 1 year contract.

What you'll do:

  1. Act as the primary point of contact for investigating and managing pharmacy incidents. This includes collaborating with team leaders and managers to perform timely investigation, action plans, and documentation.
  2. Create period end and quarter end reports to identify and monitor emerging error trends. Collaborate with team leaders and managers to reduce errors based on root cause.
  3. Highlight and recommend quality improvement opportunities to management.
  4. Create colleague friendly reports to highlight incident trends.
  5. Act as A/QPIC for Health Canada licensed dealer and manage monthly and annual reporting.
  6. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate and document losses pertaining to narcotics, controlled, and targeted medications.
  7. Assist in training policies and procedures related to Health Canada Office of Controlled Substances.
  8. Conduct ongoing evaluation of processes as it relates to compliance and workflow efficiency for the site.
  9. Conduct FMEA on pharmacy process changes and make recommendations to improve compliance and safety.
  10. Act as consultant for site processes.
  11. Responsible for data accuracy of the system (e.g. drug images and descriptions).
  12. Liaise with Quality Assurance team to ensure site compliance with regulatory and corporate quality standards.
  13. Conduct verification of blister packs when required.
  14. Commitment to promoting a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging.

What you bring:

  1. Must be a licensed pharmacist or pharmacy technician in Ontario in good standing.
  2. 5 years experience in pharmacy practice.
  3. Central fill or institutional pharmacy experience.
  4. Experience in pharmacy incident management and Pharmapod.
  5. Training in Root Cause Analysis.
  6. Healthwatch experience is an asset.
