Job summary

Thermon in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Quality Analyst to maintain the Quality Management System, document records, and support audits for ISO 9001 and hazardous location approvals.

You will work with Microsoft Dynamics AX to manage inspections, NCRs, CAPAs, and training records, ensuring product quality for heat trace assemblies and related systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical field.
• 0 to 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX (or Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations).
• Basic understanding of ISO 9001 quality standards.
• ISO lead auditor certification is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Use Microsoft Dynamics AX to log quality orders, process inspections, track NCRs and CARs, and maintain MTR data.
• Issue, review, and archive batch records, design specs, test logs, and SOPs for heat trace lines.
• Document manufacturing errors and track CAPAs.
• Gather production data, organize inspection files, and assist audits for certifications like ISO 9001 and ATEX/IECEx/UL.
• Provide facility input for the yearly Quality Management Review.
• Ensure training on heat trace manufacturing methods, electrical safety, and updated quality standards is completed and tracked.
• Manage and maintain the tool calibration database.

The Role

The Quality Analyst supports the maintenance, documentation, and administration of the company's Quality Management System. This role ensures that specialized management products – such as self-regulating heating cables, mineral insulated cables, and control systems-meet strict industrial, electrical, and safety standards. The specialist will heavily utilize the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system to manage item specifications, track non-conformances, and maintain quality control workflows.

What You Will Do

• Use Microsoft Dynamics AX to log quality orders, process material inspection results, track non-conformance reports and corrective actions (NCRs and CARs), assist with disposition of nonconforming components and equipment (including vendor supplied), manage vendor approvals, and maintain MTR database.
• Issue, review, and archive manufacturing batch records, design specifications, test logs, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for heat trace assembly lines.
• Document manufacturing errors, log product deviations (such as insulation defects or resistance variations), and track the progress of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
• Gather production data, organize inspection files, and provide administrative support during internal and external audits for certifications like ISO 9001 and hazardous location approvals (e.g., ATEX, IECEx, UL).
• Provide facility input for the yearly Quality Management Review
• Verify that manufacturing personnel complete required training on specialized heat trace manufacturing methods, electrical safety, and revised quality standards before working on the line. Manage and maintain training records.
• Manage and maintain tool calibration database.

Knowledge & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial), Science, or a technical field.
• 0 to 2 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Internships in production, operations, or quality control are highly preferred.
• Experience or academic exposure to Microsoft Dynamics AX (or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations) for inventory, production, or quality module tracking.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing standards (such as ISO 9001). Familiarity with electrical testing or industrial heating systems is a major asset.
• ISO lead auditor certification beneficial
• Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, high attention to visual detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with shop-floor operators and engineering teams alike.
