Job summary

Raise is hiring a Qualified Coordinator to lead health and safety activities across a multi-employer worksite in Mica Creek, BC. You will ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC, coordinate contractors, identify hazards, and promote a strong safety culture.

The role requires coordination with project teams, supervisors, workers, and regulatory bodies to implement safety programs, training, and incident investigations. A strong safety leadership background is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a multi-contractor construction, industrial, infrastructure, utilities, civil, or heavy project environment.
  • Strong understanding of occupational health and safety requirements, contractor coordination, and Prime Contractor responsibilities.
  • Experience with WorkSafeBC regulations, hazard identification, risk mitigation, site inspections, and safety compliance.
  • Experience coordinating safety activities across multiple employers, contractors, and trades.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work effectively in remote, industrial, and high-risk construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Site Safety Coordination: Coordinate health and safety activities across multiple employers, trades, and contractors and ensure known hazards are identified and communicated.
  • Prime Contractor Compliance: Maintain the Prime Contractor Safety Management Plan and ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, including Notice of Project submissions and updates.
  • Hazard Management: Facilitate hazard identification, risk mitigation, workplace inspections, and Safe Work Observation programs.
  • Emergency & Incident Management: Evaluate first aid and emergency response requirements, coordinate drills and evacuations, and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Safety Programs & Training: Develop and review construction management procedures and training materials, deliver site orientations, and manage local safety programs.
  • Stakeholder Leadership: Build strong relationships with contractors, project teams, workers, supervisors, and regulatory representatives while fostering a collaborative and inclusive safety culture.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor regulatory changes, drive safety improvements, and provide mentorship and coaching to field personnel and other Qualified Coordinators.

Qualified Coordinator

  • Pay Rate: $57.60/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length: 26 Weeks
  • Location: Mica Creek, British Columbia – On-site

Raise is currently hiring a Qualified Coordinator on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to support health and safety activities across major construction and infrastructure projects, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The Qualified Coordinator will provide leadership and coordination of health and safety activities across a multi-employer construction worksite in Mica Creek. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, coordinate contractors and trades, identify and mitigate workplace hazards, and maintain a strong safety culture.

This role will work closely with project teams, contractors, supervisors, workers, and regulatory representatives to ensure safety programs, emergency response procedures, orientations, inspections, and corrective actions are effectively implemented.

Responsibilities

  • Experience supporting hydro, utility, civil, electrical, mechanical, tunnelling, roadwork, dam, transmission, or large industrial construction projects.
  • Experience leading safety meetings, orientations, and contractor kickoff meetings.
  • Mental Health First Aid, leadership, or conflict resolution training.
  • Experience developing and managing site safety coordination systems or programs.
Education and Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related field is an asset.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience may be considered.
Additional Information
  • Standard schedule is 4 days on / 3 days off with 10-hour days.
  • Alternative rotations such as 8 days on / 6 days off or 10 days on / 4 days off may be considered depending on the candidate’s location and travel requirements.
  • No fly-in/fly-out arrangements. Candidates must be able to drive to the site.
  • Travel and accommodation are paid.
  • This is a Safety Sensitive and Security Sensitive Position.
  • Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
  • Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
