Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a QC Assembly Inspector for the Weekend Night shift.

This role verifies build integrity across modular cooling units, ensuring conformance to drawings, specifications, and internal procedures while maintaining documentation and safety standards. The incumbent completes sub-assembly and final inspections, reviews in‑process units, and assembles full unit documentation packages.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read shop drawings and measure with basic tools.
  • Strong eye for defects and quality control methodologies.
  • Ability to document inspection results clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Complete sub-assembly inspections and final unit inspections.
  • Inspect in-process units for sealing and parts presence according to drawings.
  • Review paperwork and report deficiencies to Quality Supervisor.
  • Assemble full unit documentation packages.
  • Support training and assist other inspectors and production staff.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies and assist with NCRs and ECRs.
  • Maintain traceable inspection records and update trackers.
  • Ensure safety standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

Overview

The QC Assembly Inspector verifies build integrity across modular cooling units, ensuring conformity to drawings, specifications, and internal procedures whilemaintainingdocumentation and safety standards.

We are hiring for our Weekend Night shift (6:15 PM- 5:45 AM)

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Complete sub‑assembly inspections, including motor, coil, evaporator, furnace, and paint components; perform full unit final inspections.

  • Conduct daily inspections of in‑process units to verify sealing, confirm no missing parts, and ensure all work meets drawing/ODS requirements and overall quality standards.

  • Review daily paperwork for all in‑process units and report deficiencies to the Quality Supervisor.

  • Review inspection documents, verify completeness, and assemble full unit documentation packages.

  • Support training andknowledge-sharingbyassistingother inspectors and production team members;verifydrawings and marking/breaking work for accuracy.

  • Identifydiscrepancies in drawings, support Engineering change markings, andsubmitupdates to the Quality Supervisorthrough the ECR process.

  • Maintain clear, detailed inspection records ensuring traceability of all findings, deviations, and defects.

  • Identify, document, and report all non-conformances following the NCR procedure, including detaileddescriptionsand supporting evidence;assistwith corrective actions asrequired.

  • Ensureall inspection forms are accurately completed, uploaded to the shared drive, and all relevant trackers are updated promptly.

  • Perform all dutiesin accordance withSilent-Aire Limited Partnership safety standards and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.

  • Support andparticipatein continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence tosafe-workpractices.

  • Other duties may be assigned asdeemednecessary.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong ability to read shop drawings and use measuring tools (including tape measure and fractional math).

  • Critical eye for defects; knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in assembly.

  • Effective communication and time management; ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe material handling.

  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office and digital photo/document tools.

  • Competent in: Wall Sub Assembly, Roof Sub Assembly, Base Frame, Drain Pan, Bulkhead,EvapSub, Motor Sub, Damper, Line, Final, Wrapping, Loading, Paint.

Working Conditions
  • Commercial/industrial environment; PPErequired.

  • Must have the physical ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs.

  • Overtime may be available occasionally with work volume.
