Job Title: QC Inspector III

Department: Quality

Reports to: Supervisor - Quality

Job Category: Hourly

Scope of Position: The QC Inspector will support aircraft assembly operations and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes, including dimensional, functional, and visual inspections, to ensure quality standards are met. The role involves approving or rejecting work based on inspection results, conducting in-process and final inspections, and verifying compliance with engineering specifications.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft assembly inspection tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and cable tensiometers.
  • Ability to interpret technical data, drawings, engineering specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Experience in reviewing non-conformance reports, initiating quality deficiency reports, and managing non-conformance processes.
  • Inspecting for fit, compliance, and quality of parts and assemblies, both at benches and on aircraft structures.
  • Planning inspection methods and sequences, and conducting measurements and tests for quality assurance.
  • Performing visual inspections for defects, completeness, and adherence to specifications.
  • Monitoring and verifying assembly work, maintaining inspection logs, and preparing inspection reports.
  • Conducting functional and continuity tests on mechanical systems.
  • Performing in-process inspections, First Article Inspections, and area inspections including FOD surveillance.
  • Verifying documentation accuracy and conducting product/process audits as part of FAI.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in aerospace inspection, with familiarity with aerospace parts, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
  • Experience with FAI processes and AS 9102 standards.
  • Knowledge of non-conformance and corrective action procedures.
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills.
  • Ability to work in noisy, fast-paced environments, and physically capable of working in restricted spaces, at heights, and performing manual tasks.

Education:

  • Technical college education with a strong quality background, including inspection training for aircraft assemblies.
