Job summary

Naturally Homegrown Foods Ltd is seeking a dedicated Sanitation Supervisor to lead our sanitation team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment in Surrey, BC. You will ensure GMP adherence, train staff, and coordinate with QA and Operations to maintain high hygiene standards.

The role requires 2+ years in sanitation supervision, knowledge of SQF/GMP and strong leadership. Lifting up to 50 lbs, steel-toed shoes, and a full-time schedule from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in a sanitation supervisory role in a manufacturing setting.
  • Minimum 2 years liaising with Quality Assurance and Production Departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sanitation team, coordinating with Operations Manager/QA and following sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs and food safety regulations and train staff on directions.
  • Enforce food safety and hygiene policies across the team.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper cleaning and compliance with governmental standards.
  • Develop training programs on sanitation law and industry best practices.
  • Maintain records of sanitation activities and issue resolutions.
  • Plan schedules to develop the sanitation team and promote health and safety.
  • Create SSOPs per SQF requirements and improve procedures.
  • Monitor labeling, FIFO and chemical storage integrity.
  • Perform hands-on cleaning tasks and assist as needed.
  • Manage waste disposal and housekeeping tasks.

The Sanitation Supervisor is integral in helping to make sure that our operations run smoothly. You have a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leading a team by adhering to sanitation procedures and coordinating all sanitation operations along with the Operations Manager and/or Quality Assurance Department.
  • Responsible for operational tasks, including following all GMP’s and food safety regulations. Ensuring the team understands and follows directions.
  • Enforces the policies and procedures surrounding food safety and hygiene.
  • Inspect all manufacturing equipment to ensure that it is cleaned properly and meets all governmental standards.
  • Consults with management to address compliance issues and make recommendations to improve processes.
  • Manages relationships with vendor regarding sanitation supplies and initial product trial.
  • Develops training programs related to sanitation law and company/industry best practices.
  • Keeps detailed records of all sanitation-related activities and issues, such as inspections and deviations, also noting how and when each situation was resolved.
  • Leads and schedules team members, effectively and efficiently managing the development and direction of the Sanitation team ensuring health and safety while promoting high quality sanitation satisfaction.
  • Creates and maintains an exceptional climate with team members, determining and implementing new sanitation procedures (SSOP) as per SQF requirements to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Create SSOP for new cleaning procedures.
  • Monitors proper labeling, FIFO and storage of chemicals.
  • Hands on Tasks include dry-cleaning equipment and floors, removing left over product from machinery and ground using a squeegee.
  • Disassembling and covering control panels and electrical equipment pre cleaning; removing coverings and reassembling some machinery.
  • Washing equipment with water and foam, scrubbing machinery, performing a hot water rinse, and sanitizing

operating equipment as required.

  • Disposing of garbage and compost; refilling garbage bins with bags, Sweeping, squeegee, and vacuuming floors and changing and cleaning footbaths.
  • Ability to safely bend, twist and move during procedures. Able to lift up to 50lbs, with assistance as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 2 years in a sanitation supervisory role in a manufacturing setting.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience liaising with Quality Assurance and Production Departments.
  • Strong knowledge of standard sanitation operating procedures in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Previous WHMIS training an asset.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a dedication to sanitation and safety.
  • Working as part of a team, often with minimal supervision and maintaining a positive and respectful workplace.
  • Computer skills are an asset, knowledge with outlook, excel, work, etc.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving.
OTHER INFORMATION:
  • This position requires successful completion of a clear background check prior to the start date.
  • Must be available to work on a full-time basis from 9:00PM – 5:30AM, Monday – Friday.
  • Steel Toed Safety Shoes are required, Personal Protective Equipment will be provided onsite.
  • Annual Salary $60,000 based on experience
