About the Role

We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer with expertise in software testing to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of backend services. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in automated testing, API validation, and microservices architecture, along with a solid understanding of business logic and testing methodologies.

You will work in a fast-paced, engineering-oriented environment with minimal management and well-defined tasks. You should be a self-starter capable of making decisions and organizing your work effectively.

This is a hybrid (mostly remote) position based on Pacific or Mountain Time zones.

Responsibilities
  1. Design, develop, and execute test cases for backend services, focusing on API automation and microservices architectures.
  2. Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks to ensure high test coverage and efficiency.
  3. Analyze business requirements and create detailed test scenarios to validate functionality and performance.
  4. Utilize tools like JIRA, TestLink, or similar for test management and defect tracking.
  5. Collaborate with developers and product managers to identify and resolve issues.
  6. Conduct database validations and support backend testing with networking technologies.
  7. Contribute to agile workflows and continuously improve testing strategies.
Qualifications
  1. 5+ years of experience as a QA Engineer or similar role, with at least 3 years in API automation testing.
  2. Strong background in backend testing and microservices architecture.
  3. Proficiency with automation frameworks and API testing tools.
  4. Knowledge of programming languages like Java or Python.
  5. Understanding of networking and database operations (SQL).
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  7. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  8. Must be a resident of Canada and eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Skills
  1. Bilingual in Mandarin and English.
  2. Experience with Kubernetes, containerized applications, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  3. Knowledge of performance testing, security testing, and monitoring tools.
