Job summary

Ostro in Canada is seeking a QA Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and scalability of a modern SaaS platform for life sciences. You will blend manual testing with automated practices and push for AI-driven automation to enhance coverage and efficiency.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Implementation, Customer Success, and Support teams to align requirements and expected behavior, while shaping QA processes and testing strategies with minimal oversight.

Qualifications

3+ years of professional software quality assurance experience, with strong manual and automated testing skills.
Hands-on experience with Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium and programming in JavaScript, Python, or Java.
Experience validating APIs with Postman, RestAssured, or similar tools.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
Interest in AI/ML-driven testing and emerging QA methodologies, including LLM-based approaches.
Strong analytical mindset to identify edge cases and reason through complex scenarios.
Excellent communication to collaborate across Product, Engineering, Implementation, Customer Success, and Support.
Self-motivated, autonomous, and able to own quality outcomes with minimal supervision.
Advantageous: SaaS environments, cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), and AI-driven test automation knowledge.

Responsibilities

Own software quality by developing and executing manual and automated test plans for SaaS applications.
Identify, document, and track defects and work with dev teams to resolve defects efficiently.
Create and maintain test cases, automation scripts, test data, and testing resources for functional and non-functional testing.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Implementation, Customer Success, and Support to ensure clear requirements and correct behavior.
Explore and implement AI-driven automation frameworks and LLM-based testing techniques to improve coverage.
Conduct regression and performance testing to verify scalability and reliability of the platform.
Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and ensure consistent quality checks.
Prepare clear quality reports, progress updates, and defect summaries for stakeholders.
Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen QA processes and automation across the lifecycle.
