Job summary

Randstad Canada is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design and execution of underpinning foundations and retaining structures on exciting projects near Montreal. You will mentor a team of drafters and engineers, ensure technical excellence, and be the technical pillar of the group.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil Engineering (Structural profile).
• Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• 10 years of experience in structural design, underpinning or foundations.
• Proven ability in load calculations and complex plan evaluation.
• Strong technical leadership and mentorship capability.
• Proficiency in French; bilingualism is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, verify, and seal plans for piling, foundations, and retaining structures.
• Act as a technical expert to ensure compliance and safety on sites.
• Provide advanced technical support to project managers on corrective solutions.
• Support field operations and service teams with technical challenges.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer, you will be a true technical reference and a key partner for the company:

• Design, verify, and seal engineering plans for piling, foundations, and retaining structures (such as soldier pile/Berlin walls).
• Act as a technical expert to ensure compliance and safety on our construction sites.
• Provide advanced technical support to project managers in developing permanent corrective solutions.
• Support field operations and after-sales service teams when facing technical challenges.
• Supervise and provide technical mentorship to a team of drafters, engineers, and technicians, actively contributing to their training and professional development.
• Participate in the development of technical policies and advise leadership during management committee meetings to guide the evolution of the company's practices.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil Engineering (Structural profile) or a related field.
• Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)—essential for project compliance and safety.
• 10 years of relevant experience, with a significant focus on structural design, underpinning, or foundation engineering.
• Proven technical proficiency in load calculations and the evaluation of complex plans.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to act as a mentor.
• Proficiency in French; bilingualism (French-English) is considered a major asset for interacting with a diverse clientele.
