VistaCare Communications Services of Canada Inc. seeks an experienced Purchasing and Logistics Manager to lead logistics, warehousing, inventory control, procurement, and material deployment for telecom infrastructure projects across Canada and the United States.

Based in Bedford, NS, this role requires coordinating with project teams and field crews to ensure timely delivery of materials. The ideal candidate has at least five years in logistics or procurement, strong ERP and MS Excel

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, warehousing, or procurement.
  • Experience supporting telecommunications infrastructure, utility, construction, or project-based operations preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple warehouse locations and logistics teams.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Canada and the United States.
  • Clean Driver's Abstract.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Purchasing and Logistics Manager to lead all logistics, warehousing, inventory control, procurement, and material deployment activities supporting telecommunications infrastructure projects throughout Canada and the United States. This position will be based out of our head office in Bedford, Nova Scotia with travel to various sites as required.

Reporting to the Vice President, Internal Resources, this position is responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of materials, equipment, tools, and supplies required for telecommunications network construction, fibre deployments, wireless infrastructure installations, and related field operations. This position works closely with project managers and field crews to ensure project sites receive the right materials at the right time while maintaining operational efficiency across multiple warehouse locations.

The successful candidate will oversee warehouse operations, manage warehouse personnel, coordinate temporary warehousing solutions, support new site mobilization, and drive inventory accuracy and procurement effectiveness across the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities
Logistics & Project Support
  • Lead all logistics operations supporting telecommunications infrastructure projects across Canada and the United States.
  • Partner closely with Project Managers and Construction Teams to ensure materials, equipment, and tools are delivered to project sites on schedule.
  • Develop and manage logistics plans to support fibre optic construction and other telecommunications infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate transportation, freight, courier services, and material transfers between warehouses, vendors, and project sites.
  • Monitor project schedules and proactively identify potential material or logistics constraints that could impact project delivery.
  • Support project mobilization and demobilization activities across multiple regions.
Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management
  • Oversee all company warehouse locations, ensuring safe, organized, and efficient operations.
  • Manage warehouse personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Maintain inventory control processes for telecommunications materials, including fibre optic components, network equipment, cabling, hardware, PPE, tools, and construction materials.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Implement inventory management best practices to optimize stock levels and reduce project delays.
  • Establish standardized warehousing and material tracking procedures across all locations.
Temporary Warehousing & Site Logistics
  • Coordinate the setup, management, and removal of sea can-based temporary warehousing and material staging areas at construction sites.
  • Assess project requirements and determine site-specific warehousing and storage needs.
  • Coordinate site logistics to support telecommunications crews working in remote, urban, and active construction environments.
  • Ensure temporary storage facilities meet operational, safety, and security requirements.
  • Support large-scale project mobilizations by coordinating material staging and deployment strategies.
Purchasing & Procurement
  • Procure materials, equipment, tools, consumables, and services required to support telecommunications construction and field operations.
  • Source and purchase fibre optic materials, network infrastructure components, construction supplies, and project-related equipment.
  • Manage procurement of company office supplies and operational consumables.
  • Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely delivery of critical project materials.
  • Work with project teams to forecast material requirements and maintain adequate inventory levels.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, purchasing, transportation, and warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications construction materials, fibre optic infrastructure, network equipment, or wireless deployment projects is considered a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with inventory management and ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong leadership, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Experience Required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, warehousing, or procurement.
  • Previous experience supporting telecommunications infrastructure, utility, construction, or project-based operations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple warehouse locations and logistics teams.
  • Experience coordinating material distribution to active construction projects.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Canada and the United States.
