Your Day-to-day Will Look Like

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of quality materials.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize project outcomes and cost efficiency.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and address any issues related to quality or service.
  • Source and procure materials and equipment based on project requirements, specifications, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to understand material needs and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Analyze technical drawings and specifications to determine material requirements and compatibility.
  • Ensure all purchased materials meet industry standards, client specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Work closely with the project management team to understand timelines, budgets, and specific material requirements for each project.
  • Provide regular updates to project managers on material availability, delivery schedules, and potential delays.
  • Address procurement-related challenges that could impact project milestones.
  • Prepare and maintain purchase orders, delivery schedules, and vendor contracts.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate stock records.
  • Generate regular reports on procurement activities, costs, and vendor performance.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
  • Stay updated on market trends, new materials, and supplier developments.

Qualifications

You have the following qualifications, technical and interpersonal skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management within the construction or mechanical contracting industry.

Considered An Asset

  • Certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP).
  • Familiarity with Acumatica ERP.
  • Knowledge of construction and mechanical contracting materials and processes.
  • Familiarity with plumbing codes, BC Housing guidelines, and other applicable standards.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with procurement or inventory management software (preferred).
  • Ability to analyze technical specifications and drawings.

  • Collaborative and a team player.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
