shíshálh Nation seeks a part-time Public Works General Labourer to perform a variety of outdoor maintenance tasks across Nation facilities and infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast. Responsibilities include operating light and heavy equipment, basic construction and yard work, and supporting safety and maintenance programs.
The position requires a valid BC Class 5 license, a minimum Grade 10 education, and willingness to work Saturdays/Sundays with potential callouts.
The swiya of the shíshálh people lies between Queens Reach in Jervis Inlet and Howe Sound on the south coast of British Columbia. Under the general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, the duties of the Public Works General Labourer include various manual labour tasks, predominantly outside. You will operate hand and power tools and equipment, such as lawn mowers, edgers/string trimmers, chainsaws, and leaf blowers. You will work around heavy machinery, such as field mowers, backhoes, and cranes. Common tasks include maintaining or building roads, parks, sewage systems, cleaning, repairing/building/installing Nation structures and more. This position requires you to operate the Nation's equipment and vehicles safely and responsibly.
Note: This is a part‑time position – 2 full‑time days per week with additional hours, as needed from time‑to‑time.
