Job summary

The Municipality of the County of Victoria is hiring a permanent full-time Public Works Attendant, based out of the Baddeck Waste Management Facility. This hybrid role covers duties at both the Waste Management Facility and the Waste Collection Team, supporting curbside collection and facility operations.

The successful candidate will assist with collection routes, sorting and distributing materials, site access control, and general site maintenance, working 40 hours per week with a 7:00 am–3:00

Qualifications

• Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver's license is required.
• Experience or comfort working in municipal public works or waste management environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Waste Collection Team with the collection and delivery of curbside waste, recyclables, and organics on pre-assigned and special routes to facilities.
• Assist at the Waste Management Facility with sorting, preparing, and distributing materials, controlling access to the site, and performing tasks to support and maintain the site.

The position will also assist at the Waste Management Facility with sorting, preparing, and distributing materials, controlling access to the site, and performing a variety of tasks to support and maintain the site.

Term: Full-time; permanent; unionized
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm or 8:00 am- 4:00pm
Rate: $20.91 per hour as per the collective agreement
