Job summary

Town of Caledon is offering a casual Learn to Skate program role at Caledon East Community Complex. The Public Skate Guard will supervise participants, maintain a safe environment and assist with administrative tasks.

The job pays $19.01 per hour for up to 24 hours per week. Ideal candidates have Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C and AED, plus at least two years of hockey or skating experience, and strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Current Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C and AED.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in hockey, figure skating, power skating, or demonstrated ability to skate at an advanced level.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service, verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise program participants and ensure their safety.
  • Assist in providing a clean, healthy, safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required.
  • Maintain composure in escalated situations and report incidents to the Programmer, Specialty Programs or designate.
  • Perform administrative tasks (attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports).
  • Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Programmer, Specialty Programs this casual position is responsible for the delivery of a safe and customer focused learn to skate program. The Public Skate Guard will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Supervise program participants and ensure their safety.
  • Assist in providing a clean, healthy, safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required.
  • Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise; immediately report incidents to the Programmer, Specialty Programs or designate.
  • Perform administrative tasks (i.e., attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.).
  • Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
The Ideal Candidates

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are looking to gain valuable experience in a variety of programs with Current Intermediate First Aid with CPR- C and AED. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in hockey, figure skating, power skating etc. or a demonstrated ability to skate at an advanced level.

The candidates will have demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving skills. These candidates will also possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This position offers an hourly rate of $19.01with up to 24 hours per week.

Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
