Overview
Middlesex County is seeking a dedicated and skilled Public Health Nurse to support the Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program within a large and dynamic health department. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), demonstrated clinical expertise, and a strong background in case management. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on public health by providing essential nursing services to individuals and families within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct home visits, including Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) for tuberculosis patients.
- Perform clinical duties such as blood draws, specimen collection, injections, and other essential nursing interventions.
- Provide comprehensive case management for individuals with tuberculosis, ensuring continuity of care and patient follow-up.
- Under supervision, engage in teaching, counseling, and conducting epidemiological investigations related to TB.
- Deliver public health nursing services across various community settings, including homes, clinics, and schools.
- Utilize nursing, social, and public health sciences to promote health and prevent the spread of tuberculosis within the community.
- Perform other related duties as required to support public health efforts and the broader mission of the agency.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Valid New Jersey Professional Registered Nurse (RN) license and CPR certification required.
- Proven clinical experience, preferably in a public health setting, with a focus on case management.
- Strong case management and patient advocacy skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to conduct health assessments, develop care plans, and manage complex patient needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Salary & Benefits:
- Starting salary range of $61,000-$63,000 per year. Compensation is based on experience.
