Psychologist - Youth Justice Assessment Clinic

As part of the Child, Youth, and Emerging Adult Program (CYEAP), the Child Youth and Family Services (CYFS) provides care and treatment to children and youth between the ages of 6 and 24. Clients and their families served by CYFS are offered specialized services and customized care across a day treatment/day hospital and outpatient continuum of care.

CYFS is seeking two (2) part-time, permanent, clinical-forensic psychologists for clinical duties primarily (but not exclusively) in the area of youth with our Youth Justice Assessment Clinic. Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing both clinical psychological assessment and testing services. Your duties include administering and interpreting psychological and psychoeducational standardized measures, preparing court-ordered psychological assessment reports, as well as providing feedback to staff and to families. The successful candidate will also supervise and provide support to clinical students and staff in the clinical assessment of clients and the preparation of court reports. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 80 Workman Way.

The candidate must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the College of Psychologists of Ontario to work with youth as both a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in Psychology with 3 years clinical experience. You will have knowledge of, and clinical experience working with, justice-involved youth, in an integrated clinical/research environment. A strong theoretical background in developmental psychopathology as well as youth and family clinical interviewing and assessment is required. Your strengths include an ability to provide focused psychological assessments utilizing standardized assessment measures and you will have demonstrated ability to administer, score and interpret psychological and psychoeducational tests. Experience using recognized risk assessment tools such as the Youth Level of Service Inventory (YLS), the SAVRY, and the ERASOR is essential, as is experience in efficient preparation and writing of reports for court. Clinical experience working with complex and challenging youth within this age group and their families is an asset. An integrated knowledge of mental health and addictions as well as strong skills in individual and family counseling, assessment, and treatment are essential. Knowledge of community resources in mental health and substance abuse treatment within the youth sector is beneficial. The ability to provide culturally competent service to clients of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is essential and experience working in a multi-system, inter-professional environment is required. Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment are also essential. Computer skills, including word processing, electronic communication, and workload measures are essential. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
