Job summary

ROYAL OTTAWA HEALTH CARE GROUP is seeking a psychologist to lead and deliver evidence-based assessment and treatment for Youth Mental Health disorders within an interdisciplinary team. You will provide CBT-based therapies, mentor staff, and contribute to program development and research aligned with the Royal's strategic goals.

English proficiency required; bilingualism is an asset. The role emphasizes leadership, teaching, and collaboration with community partners to improve youth mental health

Qualifications

• Doctorate in psychology from a CPA/APA accredited program.
• Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario or eligibility.
• Authorized in Clinical Psychology with adult clients.
• Evidence-based CBT for psychosis and related modalities.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment to Youth with mental health disorders.
• Deliver goal-oriented therapies including CBT; work in an interdisciplinary team.
• Liaise with community agencies and service providers.
• Lead program development and evaluation for the Youth Mental Health program.
• Demonstrate leadership in clinical research and grant applications.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment (individual and group) to Youth with Mental Health disorders
• Provide goal-oriented and time limited therapies including CBT treatment protocols
• Function as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team
• Liaise and consult with relevant community agencies and service providers
• Lead the program development and evaluation for the Youth Mental Health program in alignment with The Royal’s strategic plan
• Demonstrate leadership in development of an independent program of clinically oriented research including successful applications for peer-reviewed grant proposals, in alignment with the Royal strategic goals and the Program’s objectives
• Participate in academic activities, including teaching and supervision of Psychology residents and practicum students, non-registered Psychology staff as well as medical interns and residents and provide professional consultation to staff from other health related disciplines
• Participate in program/team and discipline-specific activities
• Demonstrate professional integrity through adherence to college and hospital guidelines for the practice of psychology, including; adherence to the Canadian Code of Ethics for psychologists, adherence to College of Psychologists of Ontario guidelines for registration, professional practice, professional development, supervision, communications and documentation of client contacts, as well as adherence to The Royal’s policies on timely completion of documentation and workload measurement.

Qualifications

• Doctorate from a CPA/APA Accredited Psychology Program.
• Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
• Authorized area of practice in Clinical Psychology mandatory. Authorized client population in adults is mandatory.
• Primary therapeutic model is aligned with Health Quality Ontario standards (i.e., CBT for Psychosis)
• Training and experience in the treatment of schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders, and related mental health conditions, using evidence-based modalities.
• Training and experience in evidence based, trauma informed and trauma focused interventions
• Experience with assessment and intervention of persons dually diagnosed, concurrent disorders, and behavioural management would be an asset.
• Clinical experience in assessment of schizophrenia.
• Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices.
• Research project completion, program development and program evaluation experience an asset.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement, best practices and teamwork.
• Effective mentoring and clinical supervision skills to support both academic role and the clinical practice of other team members

Language Requirements

English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset
