Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, the Psychologist I works with the COAST Kids Outreach program to provide outreach support and stabilization services to neurodiverse children and their families after being discharged from inpatient mental health. COAST Kids Outreach operates collaboratively among a multidisciplinary team. The program provides outreach support for neurodiverse children based on trauma-informed, developmental and patient and client centered care models. Support services are delivered on an outreach basis, and the psychologist is required to be independent and autonomous. The psychologist also conducts formal assessments (psychoeducational, developmental and/or psychological) as well as guides and supervises unregulated team members such as psychosocial rehabilitation assistants. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
At least two years previous experience as a psychologist in mental health, including neurodiverse children (Autism, Intellectual disability, FASD, ADHD, etc.). At least two years’ experience with formal assessment (psychoeducational, developmental and/or psychological) including neurodiverse children. Brain Story and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of child development, assessment and treatment, family therapy, group therapy and case management in mental health care of youth. Knowledge of family based interventions and strategies in treating children with mental health challenges. Experience providing mental health services independently in the context of a multidisciplinary team. Previous experience supervising and providing direction to students and/or unregulated multidisciplinary team members.
