Clinic Details — Kelowna General Hospital

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and is the region’s main referral center offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. Adjacent to Kelowna General is the brand new Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC) which opened in 2015 and is BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland. IHSC is Kelowna General Hospital’s principal surgical site and features; 9 specialized Operating Rooms created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics / Gynecology, Ears Nose and Throat, Orthopedics, General and Trauma surgeries with 2 ORs dedicated to Cardiac. Our state of the art Centennial Building also recently opened and boasts a total of 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, larger operating rooms and a rooftop helipad. KGH is also a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC. KGH is entering its third year of training Royal College Emergency Medicine Physicians and also participates in training Family Physicians. With the state-of-the-art Interior Heart & Surgical Centre and new medical inpatient units in the Centennial Building, dedicated psychiatry units for youth and adults, a modern maternity ward, enhanced laboratory and clinical departments in the new Dr. Walter Anderson Building, and an academic campus that serves as a satellite for the University of British Columbia Medical School, KGH has become one of BC’s leading healthcare centres.

Fantastic opportunity for a general adult Psychiatrist to join the expanding Psychiatry department at Kelowna General Hospital. Our group of Psychiatrists provides service to KGH’s 30 bed inpatient unit, 6 bed Adult MH Intensive Care Unit, consults to the medical / surgical units and the emergency department, as well as maintain a community based practice. Duties will include, but not be limited to, patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with clinicians and managers, and assistance with the development and maintenance of appropriate programs, policies, and procedures.

This collaborative team treats the serious and persistent mental illness population with intensive case management support. In addition to this, there are multiple opportunities in supporting the Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) clinic or the broader community through telepsychiatry. This role also offers teaching opportunities to medical students and residents as KGH is affiliated with UBC Faculty of Medicine Southern Medical Program.

Compensation Type Fee-for-Service Estimated Remuneration $250,000 - $400,000, plus MOCAP level 2 Physician Overhead Overhead costs associated with private practice only

Benefits and Incentives

Relocation Funding Available $9,000 - $15,000

• Relocation Assistance is applicable for 1.0 FTE positions and is based on move location (with eligible receipts). Part-time opportunities may be eligible for a pro-rated reimbursement, please discuss with your IH Medical Staff Recruiter
• Incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer
• Other Benefits / Incentives Payment Structure : Combined Fee for Service plus Sessions
