The Provincial Coordination Lead at Acute Care Alberta provides real-time oversight of system capacity, patient flow, and bed utilization across Alberta, driving provincial situational awareness of occupancy pressures and access challenges.
This role leads cross-functional collaboration with site operations, clinical programs, EDs, EHS, and executive leaders to optimize patient flow and capacity, and to support safe timely access to care.
The Provincial Coordination Lead is an operational role within the Provincial IOC responsible for providing real-time oversight of system capacity, patient flow, and bed utilization across the province. The role maintains provincial situational awareness of occupancy pressures, access challenges, patient movement constraints, and emerging operational risks. This position leads cross-functional collaboration with site operations, clinical programs, emergency departments, EHS, ALA, RA, and executive leaders to optimize patient flow and system capacity. The role is responsible for monitoring patient movement, coordinating capacity management strategies, resolving flow challenges, and supporting efficient, safe, and timely access to care across the organization.Works closely with: Site Operations Directors, Patient Flow Coordinators, Integrated Operations Centre leads, Provincial Capacity Leads, Emergency Department Leaders, EHS, Provincial Programs, ALA, RA. and Senior Operational Leaders.

Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, Health Sciences, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Significant experience in healthcare operations, patient flow, capacity management, or system coordination within a complex healthcare environment. Advanced knowledge of hospital operations, patient flow methodologies, and capacity management. Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority, manage competing priorities, and coordinate activities across multiple teams and sites.
Master's degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Health Sciences, or a related discipline. Professional certification in project management, quality improvement, or healthcare leadership. Experience in a provincial or multi-site healthcare environment, emergency management, surge planning, and leading system-level initiatives focused on patient access, capacity management, and operational performance improvement.
