Job summary

The City of Red Deer is seeking a Property Assessor 3 to provide valuation expertise for residential and non-residential properties. You will analyze complex data, perform mass appraisal tasks, and apply statistical methods to inform valuation and city projects.

Qualifications

• Two-year diploma in property assessment or related field.
• Pursuit of professional designation AMAA/AACI/CRA/RES/CAE.
• Valid Alberta driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
• Minimum 3 years of valuation experience.
• Strong analytical, judgement and problem-solving abilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and work independently in a team.

Responsibilities

• Valuation & fieldwork: analyze data, gather info, conduct inspections, update systems.
• Statistical analysis & QA: apply regression concepts and use SPSS/SAS/NCSS.
• Leadership & initiative: support teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Communicate assessments clearly to ratepayers, managers, and agents.
• Manage appeals: prepare and present packages per legislative protocols.
• Interpret and apply legislation, case law, and regulations.
• Apply bylaws, policies, and procedures consistently.
• Support special projects and complex reporting.
