Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience enforcing by-laws or related law enforcement is a plus.
• Strong communication and public interaction skills required.
• Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code Act and municipal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect properties in Kingston to ensure compliance with the Property Standards Bylaw and Yards Bylaw.
• Investigate and enforce provincial acts and city by-laws with tact and impartiality.
• Support Animal Control by-law enforcement, including handling dogs at large where applicable.
• Communicate with residents about cases, procedures, and bylaw education.
• Serve notices, warnings, and summons and conduct follow-up where needed.
• Attend court, tribunals, and enforcement meetings as required.
• Coordinate with other City departments to ensure consistent enforcement approaches.
