Job summary

Avana is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting for a portion of our development and property management portfolio. You will report to the Controller and collaborate with the accounting team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, general ledger maintenance, AP support, payroll processing, and construction project accounting. A post-secondary accounting degree and 3–5 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Post-secondary education in accounting required.
• Experience in construction or property management accounting is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, growth environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and variance analysis.
• Maintain the general ledger and reconcile accounts.
• Review invoices, support accounts payable and vendor inquiries.
• Prepare tax filings and process payroll.
• Manage revenue records for property management portfolio and forecast.
• Lead day-to-day construction project accounting including cost tracking and reconciliations.
• Support cash management, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Assist year-end close, audits, and internal controls.
