Job summary

Jennings Real Estate Corporation in Ottawa seeks a Property Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of commercial properties. You will work with property management, leasing, and development teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely closings.

The role emphasizes detail orientation, problem solving, and strong communication as you support monthly, quarterly, and annual statements and budgets in a dynamic real estate environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of combined accounting and financial experience in a similar role.
• A degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
• Demonstrated experience with full accounting cycle.
• Experience in property management/Real estate is an asset.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with Yardi is an asset.
• Strong ability to take ownership and accountability within the role.

Responsibilities

• Handle full-cycle accounting for a diverse portfolio of commercial properties.
• Complete month-end closing activities including review of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and amortization schedules.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Daily and monthly bank reconciliation including follow-up and adjustment of outstanding items.
• Maintain and monitor general ledger and chart of accounts to ensure proper classification of transactions.
• Work closely with property management teams to respond to questions and resolve routine accounting issues including non payment of rent.
• Prepare all property HST remittances and file on time.
• Participate in the annual budget process including delivery of rental statements for the upcoming year.
