Job summary

Walker Industries in Niagara Falls is seeking a Project Superintendent to lead major civil construction projects, including highways, municipal roads, and related infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Manager, Major Projects, you will plan, coordinate, and supervise site operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and delivery to specifications.

Qualifications

  • A minimum high school diploma or equivalent; a two- or three-year college diploma is preferred, with CET designation considered an asset.
  • 5–10 years of project supervisory experience, preferably in heavy civil, aggregates, road construction, or a related industry.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with customers, employees, subcontractors, and industry partners.
  • Proven experience planning and overseeing the workload of a medium-sized team, including providing constructive performance feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of unionized work environments, policies, procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical and operational challenges.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Experience facilitating training and promoting health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to doing the job right, while maintaining accurate records and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day project operations, coordinating crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to deliver major civil projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Plan and schedule project activities, working closely with Site and Crew Foremen to set priorities, manage production, and keep work progressing toward key milestones.
  • Drive safety and environmental performance by leading by example, reinforcing company standards, and ensuring all work complies with applicable regulations and best practices.
  • Manage project performance and costs by monitoring production rates, labour, materials, equipment, and project quantities to keep work within budget and maximize profitability.
  • Coordinate resources and logistics, including equipment moves, material deliveries, subcontractors, and site activities to minimize downtime and keep projects moving.
  • Monitor project progress and identify opportunities, reviewing field reports against project plans and estimates to address challenges, improve productivity, and capture additional work.
  • Maintain quality and compliance, ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently in accordance with project specifications, company policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and develop your team, providing coaching, guidance, motivation, and performance feedback to Site and Crew Foremen while building a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

About the Job

Are you an experienced construction leader who knows how to turn a project plan into results in the field?

We’re looking for a Project Superintendent to join our team in Niagara Falls and lead the successful delivery of major civil construction projects, including highways, municipal roads, and related infrastructure.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Major Projects, you’ll play a key leadership role in planning, coordinating, and supervising site operations. From people and equipment to materials, schedules, safety, and production, you’ll make sure every piece comes together safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

You’ll lead and support Site and Crew Foremen, subcontractors, and project resources while keeping projects moving on schedule, within budget, and to specification.

Salary: $90,000–$105,000 based on experience and qualifications

What You’ll Be Doing
