Giffen Consulting Ltd. (Giffen) is looking to add a Project Controller to join our growing project delivery team. We are looking for an individual with a mining and heavy industrial background to join us on a full-time basis in our Office (min. 3 days per week in office). This is an intermediate-level position that offers lots of opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be able to :

  • Supports Project Managers in managing scope, budget, schedules, and change management.
  • Oversees the production and maintenance of accurate project schedules. Expert understanding of schedule resource loading and levelling, and critical path analysis.
  • Development and execution of procurement plans, including vendor management and engagement.
  • Drive timely and accurate cost controls and overall project reporting, including KPIs, budgets, and financial projections.
  • Develop, review and manage project control plans, end-of-month financials, cost estimates, forecasts, and schedules.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintaining standard and ad-hoc project reporting.
  • Contributing to the preparation of proposals.
  • Providing support for Document Control activities.
  • Preparing and implementing Project Controls Plan for assigned projects.
  • Review performance trends, prepare analysis and cost impact and monthly project performance reports, and recommend contractor invoices for approval.

Qualifications+ Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance or related disciplines
  • 5+ years of progressive experience related to construction, project controls, procurement, and contract management in heavy industrial or mining
  • Knowledge and experience in EPC, EPCM and PMC projects
  • Developing project execution plans, project control plans, and change management plans
  • Expert level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, commissioning and startup work processes
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP, and P6
  • General understanding of accounting functions and systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team-building, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice
