Job summary

PAL Aerospace is seeking a Project Scheduler in St. John’s, NL for a full-time fixed-term role. The Scheduler supports the Programs Department with scheduling, documentation, and coordination across software, engineering, and maintenance teams.

The role emphasizes creating and maintaining the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), WBS, and KPI reporting, while collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure on-time program execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business; aviation background assets.
  • CAPM, PMP or similar training considered an asset.
  • IELTS/English assessment for non-Canadian residents may be required.
  • 3+ years in aerospace/technical program management preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Project and office tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for projects.
  • Assist in creating Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) with interdependencies.
  • Incorporate updates from divisions into the IMS and track progress.
  • Develop KPIs on project performance and communicate results.
  • Support risk, documentation, and change management activities.

Role Overview

The PAL Aerospace Programs Department is searching for a Full-Time Fixed Term Project Scheduler to join our team based in St. John's, NL. This is a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of our aircraft modification programs. The Scheduler will report to the Program Manager and support the program administrative functions, with an emphasis on scheduling. Due to the wide geographic dispersion of PAL's operations and the large nature of company programs, communication and organization are two core competencies that will help facilitate success in the Scheduler role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Scheduling
  • Support the decomposition of project scope and development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Collaborate and assist in the development of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) at the scale of > 1,000 lines and activities, each with interdependencies.
  • Regularly facilitate and incorporate divisional updates into the IMS.
  • Develop and present Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on project progress.
  • Analyze project critical path and provide recommendations for improvement, compression, or risk reduction, as needed.
Team Coordination
  • Liaise between technical staff (software, engineering, maintenance technicians), departmental management, project management team, clients, and finance to support project efforts.
  • Effectively communicate in English, verbally and written, both in-person and via online meetings.
  • Hosts interdepartmental working groups to develop project plans, facilitate updates, understand issues or delays, and baseline documents.
Risk Management
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager (PM) to identify, assess, prioritize, respond, and communicate risks.
  • Develop and manage the risk management database throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Incorporate risk treatment strategies in IMSs.
Documentation Management
  • Support the Project Manager in developing and baselining critical project documents.
  • Carry out configuration management.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Business Administration, and/or an Aviation Business background is considered an asset.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar training is considered an asset.
  • For non-Canadian residents, an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score ≥ Level 7.5, or equivalent evaluation program is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of direct work experience in technical and/or aerospace program management is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project.
  • Experience working with SSI tools considered an asset.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Visio, SharePoint, and Power BI.
  • Experience with requirements management software such as Jama, DevOps, IBM DOORS, or similar.
  • Understanding of industry scheduling standards or best practices concepts, including but not limited to:
    • Department of Defense (DoD) Integrated Master Plan and Integrated Master Schedule Preparation and Use Guide.
    • National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Planning & Scheduling Excellence Guide (PASEG).
  • High executive function with ability to logically organize, sequence, and present project work.
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent ability to time manage to meet project deadlines.

Security Responsibilities:

Incumbent must be able to obtain the required level of Government of Canada Personnel Security Clearance.
