Job description

Role

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, The Project Planner/Scheduler plays a critical role in supporting the Preconstruction team by developing, managing, and maintaining project schedules during the planning and bidding phases. In addition, this role provides scheduling support to project execution teams when major scope deviations occur or significant schedule maintenance is required on large-scale projects. The Planner/Scheduler ensures that all scheduling activities align with project objectives, client expectations, and internal coordination needs. This role also brings expertise in schedule development, variance and risk analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to help drive successful project delivery strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with estimators, engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts (SME’s) to integrate construction strategies and milestones into the schedule.
  • Perform schedule reviews and risk analyses to identify potential delays or critical path issues.
  • Ensure schedule alignment with long-lead items and deliverable timelines.
  • Maintain and update master preconstruction schedules as project details evolve.
  • Support project handoff from Preconstruction to Operations by providing detailed schedule documentation and logic justifications.
  • Support execution teams on major projects when significant schedule adjustments are required due to scope deviations, delays, or changes in project execution strategy.
  • Assist in maintaining and revising project schedules throughout execution, particularly for complex or high-risk projects.
  • Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and field operations to ensure that schedule updates reflect real-time progress, constraints, and resourcing.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate schedule strategies and updates to internal stakeholders and clients.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as PMI-SP, PSP, or equivalent would be considered an advantage.
  • 3+ years of experience in project scheduling or planning within the construction or engineering sectors. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in scheduling during EPC preconstruction phases, with additional consideration for those who have worked directly with project management teams.
  • Proficient in project scheduling software, particularly Primavera P6; and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, scheduling techniques, and cost management.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, constraints, and resource planning.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with diverse project teams.
  • Experience with InEight would be considered and asset.
  • Extended Healthcare Plan (Medical, Disability, Dental & Vision)
  • Paid Time Off Benefits starting at 3 weeks
