About Umicore Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

What you will be doing

We are looking for a Project / Program Scheduling Manager, reporting to the Program Director. In this role, you will manage the project’s schedule in coordination with project managers, EPCM partners, contractors, and supporting functions. You will proactively identify and address schedule risks, ensuring the overall schedule is maintained by working across multiple interfaces to suggest strategies for acceleration and workarounds, based on true interdisciplinary inputs driven by construction.

Responsibilities

  1. Review, monitor, and challenge EPCM Level I, II, III & IV schedules and Construction Contractors’ level +5 schedules in consultation with project teams to maintain schedule security.
  2. Ensure baseline data is well established; track and report deviations accurately.
  3. Review EPCM progress S-curves against actual progress, confirming schedule logic and critical paths.
  4. Develop schedules for project commissioning.
  5. Prepare progress reports such as S-curves, histograms, target settings, schedule float analysis, variance reports, and performance reports.
  6. Coach the Master Planner to ensure integration with Umicore’s global planning philosophies and meet reporting requirements in the Planisware system.
  7. Report regional time plans and their evolution to the global master planning team.
  8. Support cost control activities for the region’s projects.

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive hands-on project planning experience in major projects.
  • PMP or PSP certification is an asset.
  • 10+ years of experience with Microsoft Project and P6.
  • Knowledge of engineering deliverables and EPCM environment.
  • Effective communicator, confident, passionate, respectful, and inspiring.
  • Ability to lead and present in multidisciplinary project meetings.
  • Experienced in change management and managing scope creep/change issues.
