SaskPower’s Coal Life Extension team is seeking a Project Manager with significant industrial project management experience to lead Coal Life Extension projects including the major refurbishment of existing units. This role will report to the Manager of Coal Life Extension and be based out of Regina Saskatchewan. The Project Manager is accountable to provide leadership and direction to a project team and/or a portfolio of projects focused on life extending SaskPower’s existing coal fired generating stations. The Project Manager will require extensive knowledge of advanced project management practices for industrial projects. Experience in thermal power plants and development/administration of large commercial contracts will be considered an asset. As a member of SaskPower’s management team, this position is responsible for the effective utilization of people, material, financial resources and human capital in order to manage, coordinate and lead major projects for the whole project lifecycle; ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate strategic goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience leading large scale power generation, transmission, distribution or industrial projects as well as a proven background in engineering and/or industrial construction management. Experience in contract development, negotiations and administration will be considered an asset. The candidate’s experience must demonstrate strong leadership, collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement with internal and external groups. As a senior role within the department, mentorship and coaching of project teams and junior employees is expected.
