The City of Edmonton is looking for a dedicated and collaborative Project Manager to join our Facility Planning & Design team. You will be at the forefront of delivering work space projects, guiding integrated, multi-disciplinary teams composed of internal staff, external consultants, and contractors. With the authority to lead and make operational decisions, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of assigned projects from inception to completion. This includes managing budgets and schedules, mitigating risks, and ensuring all project deliverables, objectives, and outcomes are met. You will play a vital role in the entire project lifecycle, employing best practices in project management to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
What will you do?:
- Lead the planning, design, and/or delivery of infrastructure projects, including strategic initiatives to ensure the efficient optimization of City workspaces
- Oversee furniture requests and vendor contract management for space reconfigurations, repairs and replacements
- Lead all aspects of work space planning including needs assessments, design and furniture selection while applying systems thinking to manage multiple projects and maintain strategic relationships
- Collect data for the development of space allocation plans; prepare feasibility studies and reports required to finalize accommodation plans and business cases
- Prepare and review feasibility studies, master plans, functional programs, design reports, drawings, and specifications
- Define project goals, objectives, and deliverables to meet the requirements of Project Owners and Sponsors
- Manage, monitor, and report on project progress, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, scope, and quality standards
- Implement comprehensive risk management and safety plans for all projects
- Develop and execute robust public and stakeholder engagement plans in collaboration with the Communications & Engagement team
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and leadership within your project teams
- Lead, establish and exemplify the desired culture throughout the project teams that supports the IIS Vision and Mission as well as the Corporate Leadership Principles
- Contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of project management processes and practices
Qualifications- A Degree in a related field such as Interior Design, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or Project Management, and a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible project management experience. OR;
- A Diploma in a related field such as Interior Design, Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or Project Management, or a Trade Certification, and a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible project management experience
Skills required for success:
- Comprehensive understanding of work space planning processes related to interior design, architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and/or electrical disciplines
- Working knowledge of relevant codes, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures (OH&S, Environmental, Builders Lien Act, etc.)
- Strong project management skills including an understanding of project management methods and techniques (PMBOK best practices)
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of projects
- Proven planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience overseeing public engagement processes
- Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills with experience in solving complex and sensitive issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation, report writing, and presenting
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative, integrated manner
- Experience managing and working with external consultants and contractors
- Ability and willingness to delegate and empower others

Assets:
- Coursework/training in project management, work space planning, contract management, financial management, or leadership training
- Registered with or eligible to be registered as a Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent) and/or method of transportation to get to project sites. Applicants may be required to obtain business use auto insurance for personal vehicle use on City business
Work Environment:
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Hours of Work: 33.75 Hours weekly
Salary Range: $51.171 - $65.301 Hourly/ $90,150 - $115,044 Annually
Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and CSU 52 and will be forthcoming shortly.
