Project Manager, Transportation Planning - ( 185800 )

In the role of Project Manager, Transportation Planning, we'll count on you to:

  • Direct and coordinate work of multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development and initiation to close-out)
  • Responsible for all aspects of complex small to medium projects or routine large projects
  • Produce and coordinate several small to medium projects concurrently
  • Manager the Environmental Assessments and Transit and Rail Project Assessment Process, develop the preliminary design elements of the project, independently co-ordinate the work of engineers and/or the planning team throughout the entire project development.
  • Establish and maintain client relations
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule, prepare invoicing and progress reports to clients.
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Work in conjunction with the marketing development team for client development and marketing pursuits. Assist in the development of project proposals, schedules and bids for Regional, Ministry and Municipal projects.
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years experience of project management and coordination on mid to large transportation and transit planning projects.
  • PMP certification
  • Knowledge and application of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) process and Transit and Rail Project Assessment Process (TRPAP), TAC Manual, MTO Geometric Design Manual
  • Experience developing and delivering public engagement materials
  • Experience working on MTO, Halton Region, Peel Region, York Region, Durham Region or City of Toronto projects preferred
  • Demonstrated communication, leadership and mentoring skills
  • Progressive and innovative approach to problem solving an asset
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 7 years related experience
  • A minimum 2 years project management experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be plus)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
